Apparently it's Chinese year of the goat/sheep. 

So what do you get when you cross a goat with a sheep? 

A sheep that kicks the hell out of you when you try to shear it.

I saw that there is a Chinese year of the rat. 

What the hell were they thinking? 

Might as well have a Chinese year of the roach if you're going to celebrate rats, right? 

I mean, considering all the cockroaches in the world it seems only fitting 

that the Chinese should give them their own year, every once in a while. 

After all, where you have rats you usually have roaches.

I am suddenly reminded of a story I read about the making of the Bruce Lee movie Enter the Dragon. It goes something like this:

When the American actor John Saxon signed on to be in the movie Enter the Dragon he was led to believe he would be the star of the movie. However, when he got to Hong Kong, with his wife, he was dismayed to find that the real star of the movie was some guy he had never heard of named: Bruce Lee.

Well, the head honcho Chinese producers were doing all they could to pacify John Saxon, and his wife. They had a bottle of their finest wine opened and offered John, and his wife, glasses of the wine. When John's wife lifted the wine to her lips she saw a cockroach swimming in the liquid and SHE FREAKED OUT screaming, yelling and whatnot!!! Yes, the Chinese should indeed have a year of the roach. They deserve to!

I don't know about the Chinese, in general. I admire their Martial Arts, but as for them as a people.... I prefer the Japanese. As least with the Japanese I don't feel they might start World War III.

A note about the movie Enter the Dragon: Supposedly, Bruce Lee was TERRIFIED of acting along side the American actors in the movie. Compared to other Chinese actors Bruce Lee was more than adequate. However, compared to John Saxon...well...Bruce Lee was so nervous that he didn't show up for the initial filming of the movie. It took a hell of a lot, on the part of the production crew, to FINALLY get Bruce to show up and start filming Enter the Dragon. Offhand, I don't think there are many scenes where Bruce Lee and John Saxon were acting side-by-side.

I guess even the invincible Bruce Lee had his fears, eh?
